Those who gave their lives from Yarm ______________________________________
WARD, Edwin. Pte 27953 7th Yorks.
The following was taken from the Yorkshire Regiment website
Killed in action 5 Nov 1916. He was born in Guisborough and enlisted
in Stockton while living in Yarm. The newspaper refers to a Pte Richard Ward being killed, adding
that he was employed by Hird’s Skinyard and being of a quiet and affable disposition was much
respected. This presumably refers to Edwin because of coincidental dates and the fact that no
Richard Ward is identified as being of Yarm. Thiepval Memorial, France
